Wearing Eye Makeup With Glasses

by admin on May 17, 2011

Anne Hathaway was recently spotted at the Rio movie premiere red carpet rocking a serious pair of amazing glasses! Can you say nerdy chic? So how about the rest of us four-eyed beauties? Are there DOs and DON’Ts to wearing eye makeup with your fabulous specs? Absolutely! And we’ve got all the answers for you below. Enjoy!

Retro Chic. With thick-framed glasses you can get away with more makeup than a thin framed pair. So if you’ve got a thick black frame, then smoke up your eyes or apply a winged liner for serious attitude to get people to really notice those peepers. If you’ve got wire-rimmed glasses that are thin, go more natural with your makeup.  No matter what, ALWAYS remember to define your brows. Brows tend to be noticed a lot more since they arch over your frames, so make sure that you are keeping them groomed and filled in nicely. Read more about how to maintain your eyebrows.

Be Bright. Your lenses will add shadows in areas around your eye, so to keep things looking bright and, well, dark-circle free – listen to your optometrist and add the anti-glare coating to your lenses to avoid glare. Make sure you apply concealer to any dark circles, and use either a shimmery powder or highlighting eyeshadow in the inner corner of your eyes  to brighten everything up nicely. You’ll be looking bright-eyed and bushy tailed in a snap.

No Makeup No-No. Glasses will always draw attention to your eyes, and can even make them look smaller. So even if you loathe makeup or you’re in a super rush, always apply, at the very least, black mascara to your upper and lower lashes to really open your eyes up. That’s all there is to it!
